Travis Kelce News Announced Ahead of Missing NFL Event

Although the Kansas City Chiefs missed the 2025 NFL playoffs, star tight end Travis Kelce did not slow down in his 13th season with the Chiefs. Kelce, 36, earned his 11th consecutive Pro Bowl selection after finishing the year with 76 receptions, 851 yards and five touchdowns — despite catching passes from three different quarterbacks after Patrick Mahomes suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week 15.

Last week, it was revealed that Kelce will miss the 2025 Pro Bowl Games in San Francisco when Buffalo Bills tight end Dalton Kincaid was named as his replacement on the AFC squad. With the Chiefs out of the postseason and Kelce believed to be healthy, his decision to skip the Pro Bowl came as a slight surprise.

An announcement made on Wednesday gave a hint at what Kelce is prioritizing instead of the NFL event during Super Bowl week. Kelce will participate in the Annexus Pro-Am before the 2026 WM Phoenix Open , joining notable sports figures like Larry Fitzgerald, Carli Lloyd, Emmitt Smith and Trey McBride at the Stadium Course at TPC Scottsdale.

The Chiefs star will be in Arizona to play in the golf event, which begins on Wednesday, Feb. 4 at 8:30 a.m. ET. The Pro Bowl Games take place the night before Moscone Center in San Francisco at 8 p.m. and will be televised on ESPN.

Kelce missing the Pro Bowl Games does not necessarily mean he will not have a presence in the Bay Area during the NFL's biggest week. Kelce has not announced any plans beyond the golf trip to Phoenix, but his attendance is possible at a couple notable events before Super Bowl LX between the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots at Levi's Stadium on Feb. 8.

Kelce is a finalist for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award, which will be announced at NFL Honors at 9 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 5. Tight End University, an organization Kelce co-founded with George Kittle and Greg Olsen, is hosting a Super Bowl event the same night. He would have plenty of time after the pro-am on Wednesday to get from Phoenix to San Francisco for weekend festivities.

Kelce will be a free agent this offseason, but before making any decisions about his uncertain NFL future, the Chiefs star is taking the early part of the offseason to get his mind off football. Travis stated on his “New Heights” podcast with his brother, Jason Kelce, that he is focused on “just being a human for a couple weeks, maybe a month or so” while he figures out the next steps of his career.
