Travis Kelce's True Character On Display During Fight At Chiefs Practice

It wasn't that long ago that Travis Kelce was the one getting into training camp fights, but these days the veteran tight end appears to be playing the role of peacemaker.

On Tuesday punches reportedly broke out between Chiefs rookies Josh Simmons and Ashton Gillotte, and one of the first to get in there and break things up was Kansas City's elder statesman as both sides went back to their respective huddles.

This is usually the time of year where tempers can flair — even between teammates — and it almost always is a symptom of guys just competing.

Fans appreciated Kelce settling the bad blood on X though:

"Protector of the Year Front Runner," Matt Lane said.

"It's moments like this that spark Greatness …" a user replied. "C'mon Lets get it."

"I like it …..it's hot and we bumping…..im here for it….[LFG] football is back!!!" another exclaimed.

"I love rooting for a team with fight. This is a Royals sub-tweet, by the way," a fan admitted.

"This the type of energy we need! #ChiefsKingdom."

"That Saint Joe humidity will make anyone go crazy," another person commented.

"Travis walked so they could run. I love training camp fights " another user laughed.

"Love how Kelce just strolls thru them....."

"This is what we need in camp," a Kansas City native posted. "Not letting it get out of hand but establish that dogfight in the young guys."

The Chiefs are looking to avenge last season's embarrassing loss in Super Bowl LIX where Kelce was held to just four catches and 39 yards after a massive performance earlier in the divisional round.

As Travis gets set to enter his 13th NFL season, he's now just two years away from becoming the longest-tenured Chief in franchise history behind punters Dustin Colquitt and Jerrel Wilson who each spent a decade and a half wearing the red and gold.

It's unclear if Kelce will ever reach that mark — especially if Kansas City is able to win another Super Bowl.

"I got one year on this contract, I know that, and we'll try and figure out something for next year," Kelce said last month. "The Chiefs organization knows how much I love them. I can't see myself ever playing anywhere else. We'll deal with that down the road when the time is right, but right now I'm focused on winning a championship this year."
