Trent Brown Ready to Block for Joe Burrow: 'That's What I Do Best'
Eric Canha-USA TODAY Sports

The Bengals signed Trent Brown to a one-year contract on Tuesday afternoon.

The soon-to-be 31-year-old knows he's going to have to pass block often in a Bengals' offense led by Joe Burrow. He also knows he's going to have to do it against some of the NFL's best pass rushers.

"I'm very comfortable doing that. That's what I do best," Brown said. "I think that's why I'm here. And like you say, you won't find another tackle in the league or in the game of football today that does that better than me. I have a unique set of skills and being able to play both sides that way. And credit to God and my parents for that."

Brown might've channeled his inner Liam Neesen, but his point is a sound one. The Patriots trusted him to pass block in one-on-one situations against Myles Garrett, TJ Watt and other top pass rushers.

That will likely be the case in Cincinnati, where the 6-8, 380-pound Brown will join forces with Orlando Brown Jr., Ted Karras and the rest of a veteran-laden offensive line room in hopes of protecting Burrow.

It's a reunion for Brown and Karras. The duo spent two seasons together in New England.

Karras shared a positive message when the Bengals inquired about Brown in free agency.

"He said he loved it here. This is a great organization. It's like a family over here," Brown said. "I walked in the building this morning and he was in the hot tub getting ready to work out. That even added to it, him being here on March 19 and the offseason program doesn't start for another month almost. That was a huge thing right there, just being where we came from where people would get out of there for a release any chance we had."

Brown clearly believes in the Bengals' culture and they believe that he can help protect their franchise quarterback.
