Trenton Simpson Isn’t Giving Up His Ravens Role Easily.

Trenton Simpson has had an excellent start to the season. According to NFL Savant, he ranks in the 99th percentile among linebackers in tackles for loss and the 77th percentile in tackles per game, while playing 61% of Baltimore’s defensive snaps.

Jesse Minter has also had high praise for the linebacker. In an early press conference, he praised Simpson and the ability he displays on the field.

“I think Trenton [Simpson] is playing like one of our best players right now. He is playing really fast and decisively. He is playing with a ton of physicality… I don’t think he has done anything to say we need to take this guy off the field.”

Minter also acknowledged Buchanan’s return and the staff’s need to get its best players on the field depending on the situation. However, that decision does not need to be immediate. Simpson has played well to begin the season, while Buchanan is returning after nearly a year away from NFL action. Keeping Buchanan on a limited workload for another week or two would allow him to get his bearings while Baltimore continues leaning on a linebacker who has already earned the coaching staff’s trust.
