The Jacksonville Jaguars have seen more than their fair share of struggles over the past decade — just two playoff appearances in 10 years, and only one since former Clemson Tiger quarterback Trevor Lawrence arrived in 2021. But despite the turbulence, the franchise believes a new foundation is being built, one capable of reversing its fortunes.
That belief begins with sweeping leadership changes. General manager James Gladstone and offensive coordinator Liam Coen are ushering in a new era in Jacksonville, and the early signs have their franchise quarterback encouraged.
“It is the situation we are in,” Lawrence said following Organized Team Activities. “I really like the people that we have here now. I love the system. I love the staff, the players that we brought in, and the guys that were already here.”
Lawrence, who has yet to enjoy consistent continuity in coaching or scheme, sees a chance for real growth under Coen’s direction. “I feel very confident in where we are going and the trajectory we are heading. You can’t change the past… but I love where we are at.”
The optimism is notable, especially after a difficult 2024 season that saw Lawrence miss significant time due to injury. A healthy return is vital for a Jacksonville offense still searching for consistency. Lawrence admitted he’s eager to get back into a competitive rhythm.
“It feels good,” he said. “We’ve been trying to get everything in — offense, defense — and now we get to compete a little bit. That’s what we all love to do… It’s fun to see the offense come together and go against our defense.”
The Jaguars’ rebuild won’t be quick, but with a reset in the front office and a quarterback who still believes in the long-term vision, there’s finally a sense of stability taking root in Jacksonville.
With pressure mounting and expectations still high, the road ahead will test both the Jaguars and their signal-caller. But for now, Lawrence’s confidence could be the spark Jacksonville desperately needs.
