Trevor Lawrence Just Had the Best Game Ever

No NFL quarterback has ever had a better game than the one we just saw from Trevor Lawrence.

The Jacksonville Jaguars destroyed the New York Jets on Sunday, 48-20, with Lawrence leading the way through the air and on the ground. He completed 20 of his 32 pass attempts for 330 yards and five touchdowns with no interceptions, adding five carries for 51 yards and another score rushing.

It's the first time in league history that a quarterback has had 300 yards passing, five touchdown passes, 50 rushing yards, and a rushing touchdown in the same game:

Lawrence was absolutely surgical all afternoon long as a passer, carving up Aaron Glenn's defense with impressive throws, and putting his weapons in position to make big plays, both downfield and after the catch.

These are the kinds of throws the Jaguars envisioned when they made Lawrence the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft:

After the game, Lawrence made sure to give plenty of credit to his offensive line, a unit that didn't give up a single sack all game long:

Jaguars head coach Liam Coen praised Lawrence's growth throughout the season, Coen's first in Jacksonville, as he continues to gain more confidence in his command of a complex offense:

Few quarterbacks in recent memory have entered the league with more hype and higher expectations than Lawrence, who had been crowned a future NFL superstar as far back as his freshman season at Clemson. But injuries and organizational dysfunction has led to inconsistent play from Lawrence throughout his career, with many wondering whether or not he would ever live up to those lofty predraft expectations.

In his first year under a first-time head coach in Coen, Lawrence is finally looking like that player.

By just about every measurement, Lawrence's performance Sunday was one for the history books:

After a bottom-five finish in the NFL standings last season, the Jags are now 10-4 following Sunday's win, leading a tight race at the top of the AFC South, and an outside chance at landing the AFC's No. 1 playoff seed with three weeks remaining in the regular season.

Lawrence's play is a huge reason for that turnaround, and Sunday's performance is the latest example of just how good he can be.

He'll get a chance to prove it against a much stiffer opponent next week, as the Jags travel to Denver to face a Broncos team that features arguably the best defense in the entire NFL. A win in that game could put the Jags in positive to land a first-round bye in the playoffs, and another impressive performance from Lawrence could finally put him in the conversation as one of the league's best quarterbacks.
