Trevor Lawrence's newest weapon makes an insane catch at Jacksonville Jaguars OTAs
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

When the offseason started, the Jacksonville Jaguars weren't left with many options when it came to a returner for the 2024 season. They could have re-signed Jamaal Agnew, which wouldn't have been a terrible option, or they could search the open market.

Fortuitously, the Jaguars strategically secured one of the league's top returners, Devin Duvernay, the former Baltimore Ravens All-Pro specialist. This move was a well-considered decision that made the most sense for both sides.

"After the season I just weighed out all of my options and just wanted to seek out the best opportunity for myself and for my future. So, I mean, whether that was Baltimore or not, I just felt Jacksonville was a good shot," Duvernay said earlier this offseason when he signed with the Teal and Black.

But Duvernay is not just a returner. He is a versatile player, capable of catching the ball and making impactful plays. His ability to evade tackles in an open field is a testament to his playmaking skills.

"As far as what I have to offer, just explosiveness, excitement, speed, and physicality. Just excited to play my game and bring my game to Jacksonville," Duvernay said. "The love was there, mutual interest and the opportunity; I just couldn't turn it down. So, I'm excited and happy to be here."

The Jaguars have made it a necessity to put weapons around their franchise quarterback, Trevor Lawrence. They added Gabe Davis in free agency and drafted Brian Thomas Jr. in the 2024 NFL Draft. But they also added Duvernay, a wildcard that no one is talking about.

As the Jaguars commenced their OTAs earlier this week, we anticipated a glimpse of Trevor Lawrence's newest weapon in teal. Yet, Duvernay surprised us all by pulling off one of the most astonishing catches of the week.

Duvernay's track record speaks for itself. He has consistently delivered impressive numbers, averaging 13.8 yards per punt return and 24.1 yards per kick return. His stellar performance earned him a spot in the Pro Bowl in 2022, where he maintained an average of 11.9 yards per punt return and 25.5 kick return yards. In the same year, he also showcased his offensive prowess with 400 receiving yards, three receiving touchdowns, and one rushing touchdown.
