Trey McBride 2025 NFL Dynasty Outlook
- Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride (85) celebrates his touchdown against the Los Angeles Rams at State Farm Stadium.

Trey McBride enters his fourth season with the Arizona Cardinals in 2025, the first year of his four-year contract extension he signed this offseason, which is worth $76 million. McBride played four seasons for Colorado State University and entered the NFL Draft in 2025 as one of the top tight ends on the draft board.

He entered the NFL Draft in 2025, where the Cardinals drafted him in the second round, 55th overall. In his three seasons in the league thus far, McBride has amassed 2,236 receiving yards on 221 receptions and 6 receiving touchdowns, along with two yards rushing and one additional touchdown. He has not attempted any passes.

Last season, Trey McBride was a top-three wide receiver in all league formats. McBride slotted in as a TE1 last year once again for the Cardinals, but had a career year thanks to the return of quarterback Kyler Murray. He and Murray built a strong rapport, allowing him to put up great statistical numbers, especially in receptions.

He should continue to succeed with a solid talent under center, as a focal point in the Cardinals’ developing passing game, and his ability to make impressive catches and plays after the catch, on top of his high volume of targets, makes him a true threat each time he touches the ball. The defense is a bit more shaky, though improving, and has the potential to keep getting better. Will Kyler Murray finally break through and help Trey McBride shoot to the top of the tight end rankings?

Trey McBride 2024 Stats and Fantasy Production

Trey McBride played in 16 of the 17 games last season with the Cardinals. McBride caught 111 of 147 passes thrown his way, for 1,146 receiving yards while recording two touchdowns. He also rushed for two yards in his one attempt, scoring a touchdown. He accumulated no passing or special-teams points.

In 2024, Trey McBride was a top-end TE1 for any fantasy team that drafted him, in a weak TE year. Using Fantasy Pros standard scoring, McBride was worth 8.7 points per game for a total of 138.8 points cumulatively. In PPR leagues, those numbers greatly increased thanks to his high target volume, at 15.6 points per game for a cumulative total of 249.8 points. In all formats, he scored between the second and third most points of any tight end in the league.

Trey McBride was the clear lead receiver for an inconsistent Cardinals offense. Although other tight ends and receivers earned more touchdowns, McBride thrived in total targets and catch volume. McBride is a clear top-five tight end, with the opportunity to climb into the top with a second stellar season in a row that adds in touchdown opportunities.

Trey McBride enters 2025 healthy and is coming off a career season. Unlike other players in the Outlook series, McBride has job security past this season with his current team, thanks to a big offseason extension. McBride will look to show that he is not just a volume guy, but can find a level of dominance that can change the outcome of a game and prove himself one of the top tight ends in the game.

Trey McBride posted great numbers in 2024, with a quarterback that was healthy for the year, albeit inconsistent, in Kyler Murray. He became a safety net for Murray when he needed a quick play or checkdown, and quickly became his favorite target. That should only continue with more growth from a young offense and a continually developing quarterback, despite an inconsistent team track record.

According to Fantasy Pros, Trey McBride is projected as the 39th overall pick in standard leagues, 3rd among tight ends. In PPR leagues, he gets a jump due to his number of targets, at number 20 overall and number two among tight ends, and 23 overall, second among tight ends in half PPR leagues. In standard leagues, his lack of touchdowns hurts him, but his volume makes him a boon for PPR-based scoring.

Entering 2025, I expect Trey McBride to have an even better year than his last season. With a second season with his quarterback healthy under center, and an improving young offense that should continue to open up opportunities, McBride can continue to gather yards and receptions at a high clip. The Cardinals have hopes of making a playoff push in a wide-open NFC West, and McBride will be essential to that opportunity.

Trey McBride should be able to gather 1200-1300 total passing yards, which would be his career high, 110-120 receptions, similar to last season, and 5-7 touchdowns, by far a career high, but attainable. On an offense that is working to establish itself, McBride should be able to improve on his previous season. He is projected to get drafted somewhere in the third round, or a bit higher in PPR leagues. For the 2025 season, this value is around his talent level, but at the same time is tough to assess due to the value of the tight end position and lack of stars.

Trey McBride Dynasty Outlook

Trey McBride will be entering his age-25 season this year. He is still young and athletic and has maintained health throughout his career thus far. His physical capability makes his short-term outlook strong, but his long-term outlook is also positive thanks to his sure hands and high volume.

Not many other tight ends in the league have put up solid fantasy points recently, due to age (Kelce, Andrews), health (Njoku), or underperformance (Pitts, LaPorta). However, what Trey McBride brought to the table last year was high volume, topped only by a historic season by Brock Bowers. The fact that he sees so many targets makes him a safe bet to perform, as he is not reliant on a big play or a touchdown to add value

Trey McBride is a solid player and worth more than his projections in the short term, and is a clear TE1 for years to come on any dynasty team, rebuilding or competing for a championship. That said, tight ends in general are not typically pieces to build around, but rather assets to push a team over the top. Due to such a low number of truly valuable players at the position, McBride can be a difference-maker in a matchup.

Teams looking to rebuild can keep him due to his age, but he could bring valuable assets as well in a trade. Teams looking for a championship this season should be willing to move future assets for a shot at the title, in a position that is hard to fill. Owners should be reserved of giving up a lot to acquire him if the asking price is too high, though based on ADP, some teams may actually undervalue him. In the end, if the price is right, McBride can bring value to any team that owns him.

Final Thoughts

Entering his age-25 season, Trey McBride has a short track record, but the success he has had should give fantasy owners confidence that it will continue for seasons to come. For 2025, he is worth drafting and relying on as a top-end TE1 option. McBride had a great 2024 season with QB Kyler Murray, and assuming he continues to stay healthy, that pattern should continue. The Cardinals are attempting to be back in contention and develop true consistency, so opportunities should come for the skilled TE. McBride is a pretty safe bet, especially in a shallow TE class.
