Tua Tagovailoa is one of the most divisive players in the NFL.
Fans either hate or love him for whatever reason.
There is simply no in between.
While you could argue that he should be more careful when running the football, it is inarguable that when he is on the field, he is excellent.
He proved that in 2023.
That season, Tagovailoa had a 69 percent completion percentage, 4,624 yards, and 29 touchdowns in over 500 attempts.
In 2022, he threw for 25 touchdowns and had a passer rating of 105.
Last season, after coming back from another head injury, Tagovailoa had 19 touchdowns and a passer rating of 101.
Miami made the playoffs in 2022 and 2023 and barely missed the playoffs in 2024, mostly due to him missing six games.
In the two seasons that he was on the field for the majority of the snaps, he was in the MVP conversation.
One common theme in 2022 and 2023 was also that the Dolphins had a strong o-line when healthy with Terron Armstead, Connor Williams, Robert Hunt and Austin Jackson leading the way.
That o-line protected Tua and paved the way for a strong running game with Raheem Mostert and De’Von Achane.
This season, Miami revamped both the offensive line and added to the run game by adding players like Jame Daniels, Jonah Savaiinea, Ollie Gordon and Alexander Mattison.
Miami should have a bigger and more athletic offensive line with powerful backs that should lighten the load for Tua.
With fewer dropbacks on the season, the injury risk should also lessen.
Along with that, teams should play the Dolphins’ offense differently which should open more passing lanes and more favorable coverage.
A full season with Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and the newly added Nick Westbrook-Ikhine will make Miami’s offense dangerous.
As long as the triggerman, Tagovailoa, is on the field, Miami should score a lot in 2025.
That should keep defensive coordinators up at night.
