Tua Tagovailoa working on being more mobile as a QB for the Dolphins in the fall
Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports

Tua Tagovailoa took massive strides in 2023 as a quarterback for the Miami Dolphins.

The former University of Alabama standout proved he could stay healthy, bulked up his body, and learned how to fall properly to avoid head injuries using mixed marital arts. His training allowed to him having a breakout year — leading all quarterbacks in the National Football League for passing yards (4,624). He tied for fifth in touchdown passes (29) and made his first Pro Bowl in his fourth season in the league. Tagovailoa, the No. 5 overall selection in the 2020 NFL Draft, is moving on his next step in becoming one of the best signal-callers in the pros. He desires to be more mobile outside the pocket and extend plays in the passing game.

According to Joe Schad, who covers the Dolphins for the Palm Beach Post, Tagovailoa looks ‘slender’ this offseason.

This could increase his mobility and in January, Mike McDaniel — head coach of the Dolphins — said Tagovailoa can “move off the spot a little bit” and “extend the play.” If Tagovailoa is more mobile, he will put an end to conversations that say he lacks explosiveness.
