Two Former Draft Picks Find Homes on New Teams
USA TODAY Sports

Two now-former Cleveland Browns found homes on new teams today that will keep one in state and both in conference. Demetric Felton and Tommy Togiai were both released yesterday as part of the roster cut-down to 53 players.

After both were unclaimed by another team on waivers, they were free to sign wherever they choose. There were reports that the Browns would attempt to sign both to the practice squad. Both players, however, chose to sign elsewhere on the practice squads of other teams.

Felton, who signed with the Cincinnati Bengals practice squad, was originally drafted in the sixth-round of the 2021 NFL Draft. After a promising start to his rookie year he ended up struggling fielding punts on the return team. He was utilized primarily as a wide receiver last season and did little other then run decoys in motion from scrimmage.

After adding loads of talent to the wide receiver position in the offseason the team decided to put him back at running back full-time. Felton saw a lot of touches in the preseason and looked quick and elusive running in space. He also appeared to have improved his technique and awareness while fielding punts.

Togiai ended up signing to the practice squad of the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was chosen by the Browns in the fourth-round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Togiai never found his way during his first two seasons. Despite being considered to have elite strength, he often seemed to get pushed off the line by opposing linemen.

He did look improved during the preseason and flashed at times. He was able to record 1.5 sacks during the preseason after only having 1 sack in his first 29 games over two seasons.
