Two-time Pro Bowl RB Melvin Gordon 'in discussions' with Ravens on potential deal

The Baltimore Ravens may be eyeing a new leader in their backfield.

Gordon split lead-back duties with rookie Javonte Williams in the Broncos backfield in 2021 and paced the team in rushing yards (918) and rushing touchdowns (eight), while tying Williams in carries with 203. Gordon also contributed 28 receptions for 213 yards and two touchdowns through the air on 38 targets.

The 15th overall pick of the 2015 NFL Draft had a solid rookie season with 833 yards from scrimmage before bursting onto the scene in 2016 with 254 rushing attempts for 997 yards and what is still tied for his career high with 10 touchdowns on the ground. Gordon added 41 catches for 419 yards and two scores that year as well, making his first Pro Bowl team.

In 2017, Gordon produced career highs in rushing attempts (284), rushing yards (1,105), targets (83) and receptions (58), while tying his high mark in receiving touchdowns (four) and recording 476 receiving yards and eight rushing touchdowns as well. Despite missing four games in 2018 with an injury, Gordon still ended up with over 1,000 yards from scrimmage for the third year in a row and scored a career-best 14 total touchdowns (10 rushing, four receiving).

The Wisconsin product held out for the first four weeks of the 2019 campaign due to a contract dispute. He returned for the final 12 contests and finished with 908 yards from scrimmage and nine total touchdowns on 204 touches. Gordon has spent the last two years with Denver and has recorded 1,904 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns on 418 carries, along with 60 receptions for 371 yards and three scores.
