Ty Law inducted into Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League Hall of Fame

Former NFL cornerback Ty Law is among the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League Hall of Fame Class of 2025 inductees. Before building a career worthy of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, he first made a name for Aliquippa High School in Beaver County.

In high school football, Law played both ways as a defensive back, running back, and wide receiver for the Quips. His versatility helped his alma mater win the 1991 Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Class 2A state championship.

Aliquippa’s team success earned him a spot in the Pennsylvania Big 33 All-Star team and the Parade Magazine High School All-America Team. In addition to football, Ty Law also ran track and played basketball, in which he became the team’s Most Valuable Player.

After high school, Law played three seasons for the University of Michigan Wolverines and became a 1994 First Team All-American. He declared for the 1995 NFL Draft, wherein the New England Patriots selected him in the first round (23^rd overall).

While Ty Law played for four teams in 15 seasons, he built most of his legendary career with the Patriots. He played there for a decade, winning three Super Bowls and earning two First-Team All-Pro selections. Law is also a four-time Pro Bowler and a one-time interceptions leader with New England.

After his ten-season stint with the Patriots, he had his first stint with the New York Jets. Law earned another Pro Bowl nod (his fifth) by leading the league in interceptions (10). He also played for the Kansas City Chiefs before ending his playing career with the Denver Broncos in 2009. Ten years later, he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

In addition to Ty Law, other WPIAL Hall of Fame 2025 inductees include Olympic silver medalist wrestler Spencer Lee and Pro Football Hall of Famer Russ Grimm, among others.
