Tyler Lockett released from hospital, headed back to Seattle

After suffering a severe leg contusion during the Seahawks’ road win over the 49ers on “Monday Night Football” that required two days of hospitalization, Tyler Lockett has been finally discharged. Better yet, the Seahawks wide receiver is expected to return home on Wednesday.

Adam Schefter of ESPN shared via Twitter that Seahawks owner Jody Allen reportedly arranged for the team plane to fly Lockett back to Seattle upon his release from a Bay Area hospital.

Schefter also shares that Lockett is expected to be ready to go for the Seahawks’ showdown with the Eagles on Nov. 24 following the team’s bye week. Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said as much as well while speaking to reporters Tuesday.

“Our people think he’s going to be fine to play,” Carroll said, per the team’s official site. “He’ll need the rest of this week to make sure everything goes away, but he should be fine to play next week.”

Lockett suffered the injury during the fourth quarter of the Seahawks’ 27-24 overtime win, which handed the division-rival Niners their first loss of the season. He was hospitalized as a precaution over swelling concerns from the severe contusion.

The fifth-year wide receiver’s importance to Seattle’s offense is significant, as Lockett leads the Seahawks in receptions (62), receiving yards (793) and touchdown catches (six).

Carroll added in his remarks Tuesday that the fact Lockett will not miss a game despite the frightening nature of the injury is huge, as “we’re a different looking team when he’s not out there.”
