They say change is hard, and for Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill, it appears to be even harder.
Just two days removed from stressing the importance of timeliness when it comes to the team's practices and being a full participant in everything that goes into them, Hill was reportedly missing from Miami's stretch on Sunday.
While team stretch is something the multiple-time All-Pro "rarely attended, and that includes his [two] 1,700 yard seasons," (per the Miami Herald) he recently vowed that it's something he and others need to be a part of in order to get things back on track for the Dolphins in 2025.
"Yeah, I think it's very important because football is a team sport. I think whenever guys are able to see me come out here and stretch with them, it just keeps the engine rolling with the whole team. It is important," Hill said Friday. "The one day I did miss, I was just dropping the kids off to the pool. Besides that, I'm out here every day, dawg."
Hill is already on thin ice with fans and teammates after saying he's "out" following Week 17's loss to the New York Jets last season. And quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has already said publicly that it's going to take some work to mend things.
"It's not just with me, it's with a lot of the guys. I'm not the only one that heard that. You guys aren't the only people that heard that," Tagovailoa explained to reporters last month.
"A lot of people that follow football, that follow the Miami Dolphins, that follow Tyreek that are fans of his — everyone has seen that, the QB continued. "So, when you say something like that, you don't just come back from that with, 'Hey, my bad.' You got to work that relationship up; you've got to build everything back up again."
The Miami Dolphins are desperately trying to get past the Wild Card round for the first time since 2000. But back-to-back early exits and missing the playoffs last year have come to define the Mike McDaniel era thus far.
Hill has already made some less than flattering headlines with some of his recent off-field behavior over the past several months. And if things don't turn around soon in Miami, he could be a prime candidate to get traded to a contender before year's end.
