The Miami Dolphins' secondary is one of the biggest question marks on the team heading into 2025. After the trade of star cornerback Jalen Ramsey for All-Pro safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, the Dolphins' backend of the secondary got stronger, but the cornerback position was severely weakened.
Then, as injuries began to stack up in training camp, Miami signed two additional corners in Jack Jones and Mike Hilton, who could now end up starting for the Dolphins to start the regular season.
The one constant between last season, throughout the offseason, and into training camp has been cornerback Storm Duck. The undrafted rookie signed with the Dolphins in 2024 and played in 14 games as a rookie.
Heading into 2025, Duck was expected to make a jump and potentially be the Dolphins' starting corner alongside Ramsey. With the Ramsey trade and numerous injuries in the secondary, Duck now may end up as the Dolphins' No. 1 cornerback this season.

Although if you ask players and coaches in Miami, they're confident in the young corner. Dolphins' receiver Tyreek Hill spoke with the media Friday at practice and was asked which young corner has caught his eye and impressed him the most.
"Storm. Storm, he's doing a great job. He's been doing a great job. He's really patient at the line of scrimmage," Hill said. "He's strong. Real quiet, though. He's humble and he wants to be great."
Hill named the young corner without hesitation. In his 14 games last year, Duck started in three games. The rookie corner collected 35 tackles, a tackle for loss, and four passes defended. This offseason, Duck looked for advice from the Dolphins' veteran receiver.
"Me and him had a conversation this offseason. He asked me, he was like, 'Reek, how are you able to stay in the league this long? What are some of the things you've done?' And I gave him my insight. As an older player looking at a younger player, I was like, this dude is gonna be good in this league, because he wants to be great, comes to work every day, busts his tail, isn't scared to compete," Hill said. "Goes against (Jaylen) Waddle, goes against myself and he's only going to get better."
Duck received high praise and a vote of confidence from one of the best receivers in the NFL at Friday's practice. The young corner has had an impressive training camp so far and will be a huge factor for the Dolphins' secondary in 2025.
Time will tell if the Dolphins make more moves to add talent and depth to the cornerback group or if they rely on the young corners to lead the group in 2025.
