Tyreek Hill hasn't provided much clarity to trade speculation brewing this offseason.
The star wide receiver concluded his third season with the Miami Dolphins by removing himself from a Week 18 loss to the New York Jets. He later indicated interest in leaving the organization following an 8-9 campaign.
Dolphins general manager Chris Grier said Hill didn't formally request a trade in an ensuing meeting, and head coach Mike McDaniel didn't read much into the player's "emotional" actions and post-game comments. Hill hasn't offered concrete insight into his offseason mindset, but he responded to some online speculation about his situation.
Hill replied with a laughing emoji to a user asking fellow Dolphins fans if they'd be open to trading Hill. He gave the peace sign in response to Over The Cap's Jason Fitzgerald calling Hill the top candidate for a draft-night blockbuster.
However, Hill also disputed an unsubstantiated post from an aggregate account that claimed the 31-year-old would be fine leaving Miami for a playoff contender.
"Lol another false narrative," Hill wrote.
It's unclear where the NFL Rumors account saw that unsourced claim, as no such reporting has recently surfaced from reputable sources. Yet Hill expressed frustration over Miami's subpar 2024 results in early January.
"This is my first time I haven't been in the playoffs," Hill said. "I just gotta do what's best for me and my family. If that's here or wherever the case may be, I'm finna open that door for myself. I'm opening the door. I'm out, bro.
"It was great playing here ... but at the end of the day, bro, I got to do what's best for my career. I'm too much of a competitor to be just out there."
Per NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe, McDaniel said the Dolphins are "fully planning to move forward" with Hill, who appeared to explain his recent social media activity.
"I love being a Dolphin with all my life, man," Hill said. "I don't take no days for granted. But if you say something on Twitter, I have no choice but to troll."
