Tyson Bagent's comments on the new coaching philosophy in Chicago continue to paint a bad picture on the previous coaching staff

It's no secret the Chicago Bears made an immeasurable error in 2024 electing to retain head coach Matt Eberflus and pair him with Shane Waldron at offensive coordinator. From Day 1, everyone knew it would be a disaster waiting to happen.

By November, both Waldron and Eberflus were fired, resulting in another wasted season for the franchise that easily could have been avoided. Ultimately, it brought us to where we are today, and that's all that matters.

Since the 2024 season ended, we've heard more and more about how awful that coaching staff really was. To the point where no one helped rookie quarterback Caleb Williams watch film and there was absolutely no form of accountability for the players.

Already, we've seen a complete 180 with the new coaching staff led by first-time head coach Ben Johnson. Landing Johnson after what happened in 2024 was a miracle in itself, and seeing the experienced staff he has around him only adds to the promising trajectory this team is finally headed in.

So far, the returning players have only had a few days of practice with the new staff, and last weekend a lot of the young players to their first experience with the new coaches at rookie minicamp. The early reviews have been as advertised.

"The mixture of Ben, and everybody that he brought with him, and the way that they are teaching us and what we are responsible for on every play I think has been the biggest difference," quarterback Tyson Bagent explained. "He puts a lot of the focus not necessarily on the defense but, what is our job on the play, and how perfect can we do that job. Very detail-oriented, all the dots connect, everything makes sense...

"He's expecting and demanding, maybe not greatness, but for you to at least be striving for that."

Simply put, the new staff is actually coaching the way an NFL coach should. And the fact that's viewed as the biggest difference so far shows that the previous staff had no idea what they were doing all season long in 2024.

The Bears are very fortunate to be in this situation and everything seems to be operating in a correct and efficient manner now inside the building.

The full roster of players are expected to be back on the field for organized team activities starting on May, 20th. We'll hear more from the staff and players at that point and the following days.
