The UCLA Bruins’ recruiting momentum reached a new level over the weekend, as Kahuku (Hawaii) standouts and cousins Madden Soliai and Malaki Soliai-Tui announced their commitment to UCLA’s 2026 class.

The duo became the 20th and 21st commits for the Bruins and the 13th and 14th players to join in the month of June alone, as first-year head coach DeShaun Foster continues his scorching summer run on the trail.

Is it a great day to be alive and to be a Bruin?

The Bruins’ success in Hawaii continues to grow under defensive coordinator Ikaika Malloe, who played a major role in securing both commitments. Soliai, a 5-foot-10, 180-pound safety, visited UCLA on June 5 and called the trip “a high bar.” His cousin, the 6-foot-1, 205-pound linebacker Soliai-Tui, took his official visit in May and canceled a scheduled Boise State trip after leaning toward Westwood.

“First of all, [UCLA] was one of my first offers and have been showing me love for the longest time,” said Soliai-Tui. “The coaches and staff are one of a kind. They make me feel like family, making it easy for me to call UCLA my home.”

What the Bruins Are Getting

National recruiting analyst Greg Biggins praised both players for their versatility and motor.

Madden Soliai is described as “one of the toughest and hardest-hitting safeties out West,” showcasing elite tackling, man-to-man coverage, special teams impact, and strong instincts in the secondary. He’s a “coach’s dream,” per Biggins.

Malaki Soliai-Tui, ranked as the No. 8 player in Hawaii, is lauded for his explosiveness, coverage skills, and relentless play as a hybrid linebacker. Biggins noted his “knock-back ability” at the point of attack and projects positional flexibility depending on his development.

A Foundation Taking Shape

The Kahuku cousins helped lead their school to a state title in 2023 and are seen as cornerstone pieces in UCLA’s 2026 class. As the Bruins look to rise in national recruiting rankings, it’s clear the foundation being built in Westwood is starting to resonate—especially with elite talent from Hawaii.
