The matchup for Super Bowl 59 has been set, and it's a rematch of Super Bowl LVII two years ago.
That year, the Kansas City Chiefs edged the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35 in a thriller in Glendale. This time around, the Chiefs are looking for the first-ever Super Bowl three-peat, having beaten the San Francisco 49ers in overtime in Super Bowl LVIII last February.
If one particular factor remains an accurate predictor, it will be Philadelphia hoisting the Lombardi Trophy this time around. Internet stat aficionado Jay Cuda has uncovered a travel-based metric that indicates the Eagles are going to win on Feb. 9.
"In this century every time the super bowl has been played in between the 2 teams - w/ 1 team traveling east, 1 traveling west - the team traveling west has won this year: chiefs are traveling east, eagles traveling west," Cuda tweeted.
The last time this statistic proved prescient was last season, when the Chiefs traveled west to beat the eastward-bound 49ers in Las Vegas.
Other prominent examples of this statistical oddity include three of the New England Patriots' six Super Bowl titles and the Pittsburgh Steelers' two most recent Super Bowls.

All-time, the Eagles are 1-3 in Super Bowls. Philadelphia beat the Patriots in Super Bowl LII while losing to the Chiefs two years ago, New England in Super Bowl XXXIX and the Raiders in Super Bowl XV.
"I ain't gonna lie -- I tried to downplay it in my head, but it's just amazing, man. It's amazing. We're here. The Super Bowl," Eagles running back Saquon Barkley said Sunday after scoring three touchdowns in Philly's 55-23 NFC Championship Game win over Washington.. "But the goal wasn't just getting there. The goal is to win. And we're going to celebrate and enjoy this and get right back to work."
Super Bowl 59 is set for Feb. 8 at 6:30 p.m. ET on FOX.
