The Philadelphia Eagles ' second-year wide receiver Johnny Wilson will be sidelined for the entire 2025 season.

According to The Inquirer's Jeff McLane, Wilson will undergo season-ending surgery on an injury he suffered at training camp practice on Tuesday.

"#Eagles WR Johnny Wilson will undergo season-ending surgery on his knee and ankle after suffering the injury at practice on Tuesday, NFL sources said," McLane wrote on Twitter/X.

Wilson was carted off with a left leg injury during the Eagles' practice on Tuesday after being rolled up on by an offensive lineman on a carry by running back Saquon Barkley.

The Eagles' former 2024 sixth-round pick out of Florida State was off to a slow start at training camp, but then turned heads in the preseason opener, hauling in three catches for 73 yards against the Cincinnati Bengals.

During his rookie year, Wilson appeared in 16 games for the Birds. He caught five passes for 38 yards and scored a touchdown in the Eagles' Week 10 win over the Dallas Cowboys. While he didn't light up the stat sheet, his blocking skills made up for it.

Wilson's injury is certainly unfortunate; however, it does make head coach Nick Sirianni's job a little easier when it comes to making roster cuts next week. The Eagles' wide receiver competition battle was one of the hottest this summer and got even hotter when the team traded for John Metchie earlier last weekend.

Wilson was projected to make the roster, though nothing was confirmed.

But now with Wilson heading to Injured Reserve, there is an open roster spot for Ainias Smith or Darius Cooper, who are both pushing to make the cut.
