Unheralded Cowboys WR Reveals Plan to 'Frame It'

It might not be your match, but it can be your moment, and for Dallas Cowboys receiver Jalen Brooks, his "moment" came in the 30-14 win over the Carolina Panthers.

In just his second season, Brooks has been a slow burn and on the periphery of Mike McCarthy's offense, but he got his shot against the Panthers, and it was only one.

On the field as the Cowboys were driving in the third quarter, Cooper Rush was forced to scramble, and Brooks, who was on the opposite side of the field that Rush rolled out to, high-tailed it to the other side, and the pair connected for a 17-yard touchdown - Jalen's first of his career.

And he detailed how the catch played out.

"CP [Cooper Rush] got flushed out of the pocket, and so once I seen him start to scramble, I was like, I got to get over to the side of the field,” Brooks said. "So got over there, and then I seen the ball go up, and I was like, oh yeah, this my time to make this play, that's just one thing I was wishing for is that ball just to go up.”

And given that it was Jalen's first NFL touchdown, we imagine that he's going to have something special in store for it, right?

"I'm definitely going to frame, going to figure out where I'm going to put it, I'm going to find a perfect spot for it,” Brooks added.

Brooks has been a steady build in his first two NFL seasons, and while not at the stage of his career where he can be counted on for a long stretch, except for plays here and there. However, he's starting to make some noise.

He has 11 receptions for 165 yards this season, both significantly more than his rookie season, and with plays like the one against the Panthers, maybe McCarthy might have some more snaps coming his way.

It has been a horror season for the Cowboys on many levels, but Brooks will remember 2024 as the year he caught his first NFL touchdown.
