Unlike 2022, the 2024 Vikings record is very strong due to one major factor

Going into the biggest regular season game in the Minnesota Vikings' history, they sit at 14-2, riding a nine-game winning streak that is the longest they've had since starting 10-0 in 1975.

That season ended with the infamous Hail Mary to Drew Pearson and they are hoping for a better outcome to finish this season.

That 14-2 record hasn't come easy for the Vikings. They are 9-1 in one-score games this season, including a 3-1 record within the NFC North, the toughest division in football.

Vikings' record against winning teams proves their ability

One of the ways that we use to quantify if a team is as good as their record is how good they are against teams with winning records. There isn't a perfect system to know which team is truly better than another other than facing each other on the field, but you can get a good sense of it with some metrics.

When you take a look at how the Vikings have done against teams with winning records, they certainly look like a good team. Their record is 5-2, which is on par with other teams in the NFC.

There are caveats to this. You can't control your schedule; you can only control what you do against whom you play.

The Vikings are 5-2 against teams over 0.500 with a chance to get their sixth win. They have a point differential of +42 in those seven games, including blowout wins of the Atlanta Falcons and Houston Texans.

The Detroit Lions are 6-2 and the beneficiary of one more game due to their first-place schedule this season and the Philadelphia Eagles are at 6-3 with their schedule being against the AFC North and NFC South.

Plenty of people claimed the Vikings were fraudulent in the 2022 season, but they aren't going to find that with this team.
