 USC Spartans Wide Receiver Declares for 2024 NFL Draft; Son of NFL Hall of Famer Turning Pro – Report

Last season’s touchdown leader for the USC Trojans will transition to the professional ranks for the 2024 season. Per On3 Sports, USC standout receiver Brendan Rice has declared for the upcoming NFL draft. 

Brendan Rice is the son of former NFL great and Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice. The elder Rice holds the NFL record for receptions, receiving yards, and total touchdowns in a career. He won three Super Bowls and earned ten All-Pro honors during his storied tenure with the San Francisco 49ers, Oakland Raiders, and Seattle Seahawks

USC WR Brenden Rice: Touchdown Heavy 2023 with the Trojans

Brendan Rice, a three-star prospect per 247Sports, played at Hamilton High School in Chandler, Arizona, before joining the Colorado Buffaloes in 2020. Rice had six catches for 120 yards and two touchdowns as a freshman before snagging another 21 passes for 299 yards and three scores as a sophomore. However, the six-foot-three wideout transferred within the conference for the 2022 season, taking his talents to the USC Trojans. Rice immediately became a favorite for Heisman Trophy Award-winning quarterback Caleb Williams, registering 39 receptions for 611 yards and four scores. USC finished the season with the third-highest-scoring offense.

Rice posted his best numbers in 2023, catching 12 touchdown passes on 45 receptions and 781 yards. He flashed in his team’s regular-season finale, posting eight receptions for 147 yards and a touchdown.

Brennan Rice: NFL Draft Profile

Per NFL Draft Buzz, the USC standout is the 17th-ranked wideout in the 2024 draft class. Rice has exceptional speed for his six-foot-three, 210-pound frame and has earned recognition from NFL scouts for his athleticism. NFL Draft Buzz projects Rice to go somewhere around the third round, with his weaknesses being his “struggles to play through contact consistently” and “lack of consistent productivity.”
