Before the third-year backup QB Jordan Love was brought in at Green Bay. There was another quarterback already on the active roster. His name was Kurt Benkert. Not to say that he does not deserve a chance with a team because everyone does. To put it in better words, the veteran QB is still trying to find his perfect fit where he can showcase his talent and skillsets.
Kurt Benkert redshirted his freshman year of college at East Carolina in 2013. The following year he played in three games completing 8-10 passes for 58 yards and one interception. He was named the starter for East Carolina in 2015, despite suffering an ACL injury. After recovering the next season, Benkert transferred to the University of Virginia, where he immediately played a role as the starter completing 228-406 passes for 2,552 yards, 21 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. In his last season he broke the school record for passing yards in a game throwing for 455 yards in 2017.
After the veteran QB was waived in 2020 by the Atlanta Falcons, he later signed with the Packers. Benkert was said to be the backup behind Aaron Rodgers after the third year QB Jordan Love was put onto the COVID/Reserve list. The only live action he got was kneeling against the Bears in 2021. The veteran QB never saw the field again because he was released from the team in June 2022. Since that time Benkert has had the opportunity to work out for two other teams including the Houston Texans, and most recently the Tennessee Titans on Friday.

worked out QB Kurt Benkert today. Recently worked out for the #Texans. Benkert, who threw well for Tennessee today, is a veteran option for teams as the regular season approaches. 3:29 PM · Aug 26, 2022·
Sure, the veteran QB does not have tons of gametime experience, but he will get his opportunity. It is up to a team that will not pass him up and give him a chance.
Kurt Benkert sooner or later will find his way.
