Vikings Announce Injury Update For WR Justin Jefferson

The one thing the Minnesota Vikings absolutely cannot afford this season is an injury to all-world wide receiver Justin Jefferson. So you can probably imagine how fans watching at home felt after seeing him go to the blue tent on Sunday against the Buccaneers.

In the first half of the game against Tampa Bay, Jefferson went into the blue tent after having recorded two receptions for 32 yards and a first down. He did not return to the game and was noticeably in the tent for a while.

Fortunately, he was not immediately ruled out, which bodes well. But it doesn’t look like he’s going to be reappearing anytime soon.

The Vikings took to X a short while later and announced that he is “questionable” to return with an ankle injury.

Justin Jefferson was selected by the Minnesota Vikings with the 22nd pick in the 2020 NFL Draft and immediately established himself as one of the league’s premier receivers. He set Vikings rookie records with 88 receptions and 1,400 receiving yards, then followed with 108 catches for 1,616 yards in 2021.

His 2022 season was historic: Jefferson led the NFL with 128 receptions and 1,809 yards, won NFL Offensive Player of the Year, and earned first-team All-Pro honors. Through his first six seasons, he became the third player in NFL history to record 1,000 receiving yards in each of his first six seasons.

Through two games of the 2026 season, Jefferson has 590 career receptions for 8,627 yards and 44 touchdowns in 96 games. His career totals also include four Pro Bowl selections and four AP All-Pro selections, including first-team honors in 2022 and 2024.

Jefferson has accumulated numerous NFL records and milestones: he set league records for receptions and receiving yards through a player’s first three seasons, became the fastest player to 6,000 receiving yards, and was the fastest to 30 career 100-yard receiving games.

Simply put, he’s nearly impossible for the Vikings to replace.
