Vikings CB Jeff Gladney facing 2-10 years in prison after alleged assault

J.D. Miles of CBS 11 News reported on Monday afternoon that Minnesota Vikings cornerback Jeff Gladney has turned himself in to the Dallas County Jail regarding allegations that he assaulted his 22-year-old girlfriend this past Friday.

Gladney is facing between two-to-10 years in prison if he is convicted of third-degree felony family violence assault. The 24-year-old posted a $10,000 bond.

The woman told police that Gladney became angry with her inside a vehicle in southeast Dallas because of text messages received on her phone. She added that he threw her phone out of one of the vehicle's windows but eventually retrieved it and then physically assaulted her while attempting to unlock the phone via Face ID. She also said he hit her with closed fists, strangled her for approximately five seconds, and "grabbed [her] by her hair while the vehicle was still moving and dragged [her] across the ground."

She had bruising on her head, ears and torso, and also reported scratches on her face and neck and abrasions on her knees.

Per ESPN stats, Gladney appeared in all 16 games during his rookie season in 2020 and finished the campaign fifth on the team with 81 total tackles. Minnesota selected him with the 31st pick of last year's draft.
