Vikings continue to be mentioned as trade down candidates in the NFL Draft with multiple fascinating options at their disposal

One thing that the Minnesota Vikings have been known for in the NFL Draft is making trades.

Rick Spielman was in the front office for over 15 years and the full-time general manager since 2011. He loved to trade, often trading down multiple times in the same round to acquire a bevy of day-three picks. The theory was having more bites at the apple would give you more opportunities to find a Stefon Diggs or Matt Birk on day three.

Kwesi Adofo-Mensah has a history of trades as well, but all of them have come before the beginning of the fifth round. He has prioritized finding value on an overall level rather than maximizing the bites at the apple.

Minnesota Vikings trade down possibilities

While the Vikings could end up taking a player at 24th overall, it's likely that they will end up trading down to acquire more picks, as they only have four of them. The one thing that could hold them back: teams need someone trade up for.

The latest speculation surrounding Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders means there could be up to three quarterbacks that could be targets. There also could be a player or two that falls down the board who teams would want to make the move up for, especially with how weak this draft class is perceived.

Who could end up making the trade up with the Vikings? There are five teams who could end up making the move based on their needs and history with breakdowns of how the trades look on multiple trade charts.

The theme with the above trades are relatively simple: get multiple picks out of the deal and use the Vikings' picks to maneuver up the board.

Adofo-Mensah has a history of swapping multiple draft picks, including his first trade when he did a three-for-two trade by sending picks 12 and 46 for 32, 34, and 66. That strategy is likely to happen if the Vikings are going to move down the board.

There is also a discussion of how far the Vikings would be willing to move down the board. The mid-30s is probably the sweet spot for the Vikings to land, as the quality of player is very similar at 34 than it is at 24.

Conversations are already being had about what a trade could entail, as the Vikings worked out the parameters of that trade with the Lions in the March prior to the NFL Draft.

Will the Vikings end up making a trade? We will find out April 24th, but be prepared for it to happen.
