Vikings' Dalvin Cook faces assault allegations, lawyer says RB is real victim

Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook is the subject of a lawsuit in which a former girlfriend alleges he assaulted her at his home last year and gave her a concussion, the Minnesota Star Tribune reported Tuesday.

The lawsuit, filed in Dakota County District Court, alleges Cook committed assault, battery and false imprisonment.

According to the report, Cook's former girlfriend, identified as U.S. Army Sgt. Gracelyn Trimble, was in Minnesota last year to break up with Cook and retrieve belongings from his house when a physical altercation broke out. Trimble alleges in the filing that she tried to use mace on Cook when things turned violent before going to his bedroom to grab his gun and call a friend for help.

Cook's attorney, David Valentini, said his client is the real victim of the abuse. He said that Trimble broke into Cook's home and assaulted him and that she is currently extorting him for money.

The Vikings issued a statement Tuesday regarding the lawsuit.
