Dalvin Cook doing 'much better'

Vikings' Dalvin Cook's ankle injury 'much better' ahead of Seahawks game

Earlier in the day, the Minnesota Vikings listed star running back Dalvin Cook as questionable coming off what head coach Mike Zimmer previously referred to as a "little" right ankle sprain the two-time Pro Bowl selection suffered in last Sunday's loss at the Arizona Cardinals.

Not all questions are created equal.

Per ESPN's Courtney Cronin, Zimmer told reporters Cook is "doing much better" and completed some on-the-field work Friday after he missed practice over the past two days. Zimmer also strongly hinted Cook will be good to go and to contribute, as usual, on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks:

Zimmer suggested earlier in the week that he would push Cook's return because "it's time to get some wins" after Minnesota dropped its first two contests.

"Dalvin's a tough guy," Zimmer added at that time. "If he can't play, there's a reason why he's not playing. But he makes us go, so we're going to continue to play him."

Cook recorded 148 total yards from scrimmage against Arizona and, according to ESPN stats, is fifth in the NFL with 192 rushing yards and 42 carries following the "Thursday Night Football" matchup between the Carolina Panthers and Houston Texans.

As usual, Alexander Mattison will receive additional carries and touches for Minnesota if Cook is again banged up in Week 3.
