After the retirement of fullback C.J. Ham, the Minnesota Vikings are set to have 20 free agents heading into the offseason. They are going to move on from multiple players and bring in new players to fill their spots. Along with that, they will be trying to bring back plenty of players who will hit free agency.
Ahead of free agency beginning, we will be taking a look at each free agent, breaking down what they did last season and whether or not they
Position: Offensive tackle
Age for 2027 Season: 28
Incoming NFL Year: 7th
Previous AAV: $2 million
2026 Snap %: 57.8%
The Vikings brought in Skule to be their swing tackle in 2025, and they got him at a very low price. After playing extensively in 2024 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Skule had to play extensively. He played in 12 games with nine starts and was very up and down. He did allow seven sacks and was credited with 29 pressures on 356 snaps per Pro Football Focus. His best performance came against the Cleveland Browns, where, per Next Gen Stats, he didn't allow a single pressure on Myles Garrett in 14 pass rush reps.
Overall, Skule's performance was very up-and-down, with many calling for him to be replaced because of his performance being so inconsistent. However, his performance was more than solid for a player who was paid just $2 million. The Vikings could have done a better job giving him support early on, but instead, they didn't adjust enough when he replaced Christian Darrisaw.
When you look back at Skule's performance last season, it was more than fine for what he was both asked to do and his salary. Sure, he was inconsistent and showed struggles, but he's one of the better swing tackles in the league.
The best thing going for Skule is the weak offensive line position in the NFL. There aren't enough quality starters in the NFL, let alone quality backups. Skule is going to get a nice contract from somebody this offseason, and it will be in line with the top swing tackles in the league. I do think it could be with the Vikings once again, but it will depend on the market for him.
Contract prediction: 1 year, $3.5 million max value, $2 million fully guaranteed
