Vikings have a wild history when they play the Ravens, and it could lead to the NFC Championship Game

We found out the Minnesota Vikings' schedule for the 2025 season on Wednesday night and there are some interesting matchups.

When you look at the schedule, it starts out much easier on paper than it appears to be. It's not ideal that J.J. McCarthy is going to debut on Monday Night Football and follow it up with the home opener on Sunday Night Football, but it's something that he can handle.

Vikings vs. Ravens leads to wild things

There are some interesting things when it comes to the Vikings' schedule. They play the AFC North and NFC East, two very difficult divisions to face. They are loaded with difficult teams, including multiple award-winning quarterbacks.

One team has always led to interesting things when it comes to the end of the Vikings' season, and that is the Baltimore Ravens. The two teams have only met seven times since the Ravens made the move from Cleveland after the 1995 season. The Vikings are 3-4 in those games, but those matchups have led to distinct outcomes.

The three wins for the Vikings led to NFC Championship Game appearances in 1998, 2009, and 2017. Essentially, a win guarantees them an appearance in the final four of the playoffs.

Then, there is the other angle. Four of the Vikings' last five coaches have lost to the Ravens. All four of them lost their job that year, with Dennis Green being the only one who was let go before the end of the season.

This is a relatively small sample size for the Vikings, but it's not nothing. It's especially easy to buy into this when you consider they have a team ready to thrive and make that kind of run. Head coach Kevin O'Connell is going to have to find a way to win that first playoff game, but it's certainly possible.
