Vikings' RB Dalvin Cook 'day-to-day' with shoulder injury after bizarre play against Lions

Dalvin Cook's status for next week's game in London, England, is officially up in the air.

After the Minnesota Vikings' 28-24 come-from-behind win over the Detroit Lions, head coach Kevin O'Connell said Cook is "day-to-day" after suffering a bizarre shoulder injury in the second half.

Cook left the game in the third quarter after a collision with teammate and offensive lineman Ezra Cleveland. After taking a handoff from quarterback Kirk Cousins, Cook followed his lead blocker, Cleveland, a little too closely, smashing into his back before fumbling the football.

O'Connell said he spoke with Cook, who still wants to play next week in London against the New Orleans Saints. Cook will reportedly undergo further tests on his injured shoulder this week to determine the path forward.

Cook is no stranger to shoulder injuries. Last season, he suffered a torn labrum and shoulder dislocation against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 11. However, the 27-year-old missed only one game, returning in Week 13.

Before exiting Sunday's contest, Cook had already posted his best game of the 2022 campaign. The three-time Pro Bowler rushed for 96 yards and a touchdown off 17 carries in an excellent bounce-back effort. Last week, Cook finished with six carries for 17 yards in the Vikings' 24-7 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
