Vikings re-sign three-time Pro Bowl QB Kirk Cousins to one-year, $35M deal

With Tom Brady calling off his brief retirement, Aaron Rodgers back in the fold with the Green Bay Packers and Russell Wilson headed to the Denver Broncos, the future of three-time Pro Bowl signal-caller Kirk Cousins was a hot topic on Sunday. It turns out that — like Brady and Rodgers — will be staying put.

Cousins will enter his 11th NFL season in 2022 and fifth with the Vikings. He has been one of the more consistent and durable quarterbacks in the league since 2015, racking up seven straight campaigns of either 15 or 16 games played, between seven and 10 games won, at least 4,000 passing yards (except for 2019) and between 25 and 35 touchdowns passes.

In his first four seasons in the North Star State, Cousins has made the playoffs just once, as the team made it to the NFC divisional round in 2019 before losing to the San Franciso 49ers. Depending on how the rest of the offseason shakes out, Minnesota should have one of the more dangerous offenses on paper in 2022 behind Cousins, fellow three-time Pro Bowler and star running back Dalvin Cook and two-time Pro Bowl wide receivers Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen.
