Vikings sign one-time champion CB Bashaud Breeland

The new-look Minnesota Vikings secondary received another addition to go along with the likes of Patrick Peterson, Xavier Woods and the returning Mackensie Alexander.

On Friday, the Vikings confirmed they've signed cornerback Bashaud Breeland to a one-year deal. NFL Network's Mike Garafolo (h/t Adam Maya) reports the contract is worth $4 million.

Breeland spent the last two seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs and was part of the squad that defeated the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV. The 29-year-old made headlines last August, however, when it was learned he'd miss the first four games of the 2020 campaign due to violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.

Per Grant Gordon of the NFL's website, Breeland was arrested in April 2020 on multiple charges, including having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle and possession of 28 grams or less of marijuana or 10 grams of hash.

When he returned to the lineup last fall, he recorded 38 total tackles, two interceptions, one fumble recovery, one forced fumble and nine pass breakups in 11 regular-season games.
