Vikings sign veteran LB Todd Davis

After losing both Anthony Barr and rookie Troy Dye to injuries, the Minnesota Vikings announced on Thursday that the club has put pen to paper on a contract with veteran linebacker Todd Davis

Barr suffered a torn pectoral muscle and is out for the season. Dye went on injured reserve Thursday and will miss a minimum of three games because of an ankle injury.

Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press reported Davis signed a one-year contract with Minnesota.

Davis, 28, was a surprising cut by the Denver Broncos as part of the franchise's final roster trimmings earlier this month. He was a lineup mainstay for Denver each season from 2015 through 2019 and was part of the team that beat the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50.

Davis led the Broncos in tackles last season with 134 but dealt with a calf injury that sidelined him for the bulk of training camp sessions this summer. Denver made him a salary-cap casualty on Sept. 4.
