Vikings WR Jeshaun Jones Suspended For 3 Games

Jones, 26, was arrested in Hillsborough County, Florida in April “for refusing to submit to a breath test to determine his blood-alcohol level,” per Ben Goessling of the Minnesota Tribune. Last month, he pleaded no contest to reckless driving, a lesser charge.

A three-game suspension has become the NFL’s standard punishment for this type of offense. Raiders defensive end Charles Snowden received a three-game ban in July after resolving a 2024 DUI charge in January.

Jones will be permitted to participated in the Vikings’ remaining training camp practices as well as their preseason game against the Broncos on Friday. He will begin serving his suspension after 53-man roster cuts on August 30.

Jones, a 2024 UDFA signing, has spent two years on the practice squad with one appearance on special teams last year. He may have had a chance at making Minnesota’s regular-season roster after a five-catch, 63-yard performance in Saturday’s preseason loss to the Ravens. The Vikings’ receiver room is led by Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, and Jauan Jennings – one of the top trios in the NFL – but lacks depth outside of 2025 third-round pick Tai Felton, who played just 46 offensive snaps as a rookie.

Now, though, the Vikings will be inclined to waive Jones on Sunday and re-sign him to the practice squad when his suspension is lifted after Week 3. Otherwise, they would have to keep him on the initial 53-man roster and move him to the reserve/suspended list. Once Week 4 rolls around, they would have to clear a roster spot for him. Even if they wanted to waive Jones at that point, they would still have to move him to the active roster for one day before releasing him.
