The Tampa Bay Buccaneers faced off against the New York Jets on Sunday, as head coach Todd Bowles and the Bucs jumped out to a big lead against a struggling Jets team. After winning their first two games of the 2025 season, the Bucs hoped to continue their winning ways on Sunday.
A big reason for the Bucs' success over their first two games of the year has been their defense. Tampa Bay didn't allow more than 20 points against either of its first two opponents.
This defensive success continued on Sunday against the Jets, as the Bucs allowed just six points through the first three quarters, while scoring a touchdown themselves. Tampa Bay ended up having to rally for the third straight week, earning a 29-27 victory on a last-second field goal.
With less than 30 seconds remaining in the first half, Bucs cornerback Jamel Dean intercepted a pass from Jets quarterback Tyrod Taylor and returned it 55 yards for a pick-six that put Tampa Bay up by two touchdowns at the time.
After the play, the entire Bucs defense, led by defensive tackle Vita Vea, celebrated by rowing a boat in the end zone.

Vea and his team's celebration caught attention online from NFL fans.
"We love vita vea," wrote one user.
" this is awesome," said another.
"Dude cold," commented one more.
Vea is in his eighth season in the NFL, all of which have come with the Bucs. The 6-foot-4, 347-pounder has endeared himself to the Tampa Bay faithful for his powerful play on the defensive line and his theatrics off the field.
He has been selected to the Pro Bowl two times in his career, one of which came last season.
"This is too funny," continued the comments.
"Great celly!" chimed in another.
