Von Miller Makes DeMarcus Ware Request After Cowboys Announcement

Von Miller is now on the Dallas Cowboys after signing with America’s Team on Aug. 16. Miller joins a Dallas defense that struggled last season under first-year head coach Brian Schottenheimer and defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus. The Cowboys ranked last in the NFL in scoring defense in 2025, allowing 30.1 points per game.

Schottenheimer returns for a second season with Christian Parker as his new defensive coordinator, with the 34-year-old now the youngest defensive coordinator in franchise history. Miller is one of the most explosive pass rushers this century, with the 6-foot-3 outside linebacker tied for No. 9 all time in sacks at 138.5.

The player with whom the 37-year-old is tied on the all-time sack list is former Dallas legend DeMarcus Ware. Ware and Miller joined forces to lead the Denver Broncos to a Super Bowl 50 victory over Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers in 2016.

It appears that Miller wants to bring the duo back, as on Sunday, Miller went to social media to make a request for Ware. On his Instagram story, Miller posted a graphic showing DeMarcus Ware and his patented No. 94 alongside Miller in his No. 40, both in Cowboys uniforms.

Miller made reference to retired defensive tackle Aaron Donald coming out of retirement to join forces with Myles Garrett, writing, “If Aaron can do it…”

Although Ware is already immortalized in Canton with his Pro Football Hall of Fame gold jacket, Miller remembers the success that was generated when both edge rushers were lurking together on the same field.

Dallas will open the 2026 NFL regular season on the road at MetLife Stadium to face the New York Giants on Sunday, Sept. 13, at 8:20 p.m. ET.
