Von Miller sounds done recruiting Odell Beckham Jr. to Bills

Buffalo Bills defensive star Von Miller appears to have offered his final recruiting pitch to Odell Beckham Jr. ahead of Christmas.

"The ball is in Odell’s court," Miller told Jenna Lemoncelli of the New York Post. "Whatever Odell wants to do, he’ll be able to do it. If Odell wants to sign with the Dallas Cowboys, he can do it. It’s a way for him to do it. If Odell wants to sign with the Buffalo Bills, it’s a way for him to do it… and I don’t want to speak for him or anything like that. I just think the ball is in Odell’s court for whatever he wants to do."

Miller made his comments after Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said ahead of this past weekend that Beckham is "going to join us." Such a transaction never occurred, and Jones seemed more pessimistic about landing the free-agent wide receiver during a Tuesday interview on Dallas radio station 105.3 The Fan.

Beckham recently met with the Bills, Cowboys and New York Giants. Perhaps the most noteworthy news to emerge from those visits involved a report claiming some within the Cowboys were concerned Beckham's physical with the club showed he won't be able to play "before mid-January" as he works his way back from the torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee he suffered in February.

Beckham has since said he doesn't "see the point" in taking the field before the playoffs next month, and it was subsequently reported that "several NFL teams believe" the three-time Pro Bowl selection will remain unsigned until after Super Bowl LVII.

Miller and Beckham earned championship rings with the Los Angeles Rams this past winter. The pass-rusher, who is out for the remainder of this season, insisted while speaking with Lemoncelli he wants his former teammate "to be happy" and "be at peace" with his decision about his playing future.

"You know, if he doesn’t make the regular season, he’ll make it in the playoffs," Miller added about OBJ. "If he doesn’t make it in the playoffs, he’ll make it in free agency in the spring. So it’s not really a rush on it."
