The Washington Commanders have some uncertainty as to who their quarterback will be in Week 17 against the San Francisco 49ers. Recently, it was revealed that QB Jacoby Brissett was dealing with a hamstring injury. This was after the Commanders announced that they had planned to start Brissett in Week 17.
So, what will Washington do about this quarterback situation? Well, this recent quarterback signing should give us some more insight.
Earlier today, the Washington Commanders announced that they have signed QB Jake Fromm from their practice squad. He has not played a snap for the Commanders yet this season. This is Fromm’s fourth year in the NFL. However, he has only played in three career games and made one career start.
With this signing, it is looking less and less likely that Brissett will play in Week 17. So, does that mean Fromm will start? It is unlikely.
It is more likely that Fromm was signed as an emergency quarterback. If Brissett can’t go, expect Sam Howell to start for the Commanders once again. He was benched in Week 16 after a poor performance against the New York Jets. Now, he could have a chance at redemption.
