No. 2 overall pick Jayden Daniels had the internet buzzing on Wednesday thanks to his scintillating completion to third-year wide receiver Jahan Dotson, so naturally, Washington Commanders Pro Bowl wideout, Terry McLaurin, had to show off his skills on Thursday.
McLaurin hauled in a clutch, fingertip catch down the sideline of the latest OTA session over Commanders second-year safety, Quan Martin. It was Daniels throwing the ball this time around, though. Instead, it was veteran quarterback Marcus Mariota, a former No. 2 overall pick and Heisman Trophy winner himself, launching the rock.

It was a really good throw on Mariota's end, too. He's currently competing with Daniels, last year's Heisman Trophy winner, for the Commanders' starting quarterback spot. Washington signed Mariota to a one-year deal worth $6 million back in March. He's easily the most experienced quarterback on the roster, as he's played in 90 career games with 74 starts since he was drafted back in 2015. He's thrown for 15,280 yards, 94 touchdowns and 55 interceptions over the course of his career.
McLaurin is going to be very important in 2024, regardless of who's playing quarterback. He's obviously the team's best -and No. 1- wideout and the passing attack will certainly run through him. The underrated receiver is coming off a solid 2023 season in which he recorded 79 receptions for 1,002 yards and four touchdowns off 132 targets. For his career, he has hauled in an impressive 378 receptions for 5,283 yards, and 25 touchdowns since he was drafted in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
If Jahan Dotson can take the next step, Zach Ertz can be a healthy, reliable target, and if Luke McCaffrey can become an early contributor, then the Commanders' passing attack should be able to make some noise in 2024 - with McLaurin leading the way.
