The NFC East has turned into a massive arms race with the Philadelphia Eagles being the class act of the NFL, the Washington Commanders reaching the NFC Championship Game, the Dallas Cowboys still having a dangerous team and the New York Giants being a thorn in all of their sides.
But the arms race is only heating up as the Commanders are set to bring in a former 1,000-yard receiver from the Dallas Cowboys into the fold.
On Thursday, the team announced that they have signed free agent wide receiver Michael Gallup to a contract. Gallup did not play in 2024 but previously played the entirety of his NFL career in Dallas.
"(New) addition to the wide receiver room," the team announced on X today.

Gallup played 86 games for Dallas between 2018 and 2023, with his best season coming in 2019. That year he had 66 receptions for 1,107 yards and six touchdowns - all career highs.
Over his six years in Dallas, Gallup had 266 receptions for 3,744 yards and 21 touchdowns.
After suffering a serious injury in 2021, his production nosedived in 2022 and 2023. He wound up retiring after the 2023 season but appears to have mended and came out of retirement earlier this offseason.
Given that he's been out of football for a year now, it remains to be seen if Gallup will really have a big role in Washington's offense this year or if he'll just be a training camp body. The contract terms will likely offer some clarity once they come out.
Will Gallup play against his former Cowboys team this coming season?
