The fine is connected to the league's investigation into allegations of harassment within the team, which has been ongoing for the better part of a year.
The news comes just a couple of days after Washington announced Tanya Snyder as co-CEO of the team. Her husband, co-CEO Dan Snyder, is part of the ongoing investigation and has "temporarily removed himself from day-to-day operations of the club, ceding that control to his wife," according to the New York Times.
The money will be donated to charity, Schefter reported.
