Washington Football Team signs kicker Joey Slye, releases Chris Blewitt

The Washington Football Team is on to their third kicker of the season.

Washington began the year with Dustin Hopkins as their kicker for the seventh straight season, but after six games, he was released. Hopkins was 12-for-14 on field goals and 10-for-12 on extra points with Washington this season.

The team replaced Hopkins with Chris Blewitt, who only lasted two games with the organization. Blewitt went 2-for-5 on field goals -- including just 1-for-4 on kicks between 40 and 49 yards -- while he connected on both of his extra-point attempts.

Joey Slye is in his third pro season, having spent 2019 and 2020 with the Carolina Panthers. In six games split between the Houston Texans and San Franisco 49ers this year, Slye has gone 11-for-13 on field goals and 9-for-12 on extra points.

Washington will host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in week 10 at 1:00 p.m. ET on Sunday.
