The Washington Football Team improved to 3-6 on the season via a surprising 29-19 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday but lost young star defensive end Chase Young to a leg injury. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport (h/t Jeremy Bergman) previously reported the 2020 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year went down to a torn ACL, and Washington coach Ron Rivera confirmed the bad news Monday.
"It will end his season," Rivera said without specifying the nature of Young's injury, according to John Keim of ESPN.
Young suffered the setback in the second quarter of Sunday's win as he attempted to sack Tampa Bay quarterback and seven-time champion Tom Brady.

It's a brutal blow for a team and player not having the season either envisioned over the summer. Young earned a Pro Bowl nod his debut campaign after he recorded 7.5 sacks but had only 1.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and four quarterback hits this season before Sunday's development.
Washington next plays at the 5-5 Carolina Panthers, which notched their own upset victory at the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.
