Controversy follows Aaron Rodgers like his shadow. The future Hall of Famer found himself amidst another on Sunday at Lake Tahoe in Nevada.
A video from the American Century Celebrity Golf tournament surfaced, raising a lot of eyebrows. A young boy can be heard saying to Rodgers that one of his shots nearly hit him as the 41-year-old came closer.
Rodgers did not react and calmly dealt with the kid. He replied that ‘it doesn’t count’ as the ball did not hit him, so he has nothing to complain about. A few grown-ups shared a chuckle after witnessing the harmless altercation.
Yikes: New Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers almost hit a kid with his golf club and roasts him instead of apologizing:

Rodgers: "Almost doesn't count."

Readers will remember that Rodgers’ name was in the headlines for a separate incident that took place in the same tournament. The former Green Bay Packers and New York Jets quarterback refused to sign an autograph on a match ticket despite a fan’s persistent request. He quietly walked away, alleging that the fan was a ‘scalper’ or ‘reseller’ of autographs.
It was a very eventful off-season for the Pittsburgh Steelers. They cut both Russell Wilson and Justin Fields following their wildcard round exit. Mike Tomlin and Omar Khan faced ample heat from fans and analysts for not retaining at least one of them.
The intensity of the criticism increased after everyone realized what the pair was planning to do. They targeted a freshly laid-off Rodgers from the Jets. He promised to sign for them, but at the same time weighed other options, such as the Vikings.
After the NFC franchise backed out of the race, the Steelers remained the only club interested in the former MVP who had just recovered from a torn Achilles. Draft gurus suggested that Tomlin should draft Shedeur Sanders, but they chose CFP Champion Will Howard in the late round and waited for an answer from Rodgers.
Rodgers finally answered the calling and signed a one-year deal in June, right after the OTAs. Ex-Steeler Ryan Clark hated the idea of signing another aging quarterback who may or may not have disrespected the club by delaying his allegiance, and it appears he’s not the only one who believes the same.
Former Cleveland Browns head coach and a frequent FS1 contributor, Eric Mangini, called Rodgers out for making the Steelers wait for him.
I don’t know if it’s me being cynical, but you had a lot of time to make a decision to become a Pittsburgh Steeler… You could’ve gotten a much more thorough understanding of the system so that this becomes that much more impactful.
Mangini said on First Things First (H/T: Newsweek)
Rodgers addressed the reason behind his delay during his first press conference as the Steelers’ quarterback. He had his hands full with personal issues. Most will undeniably picture a darkness retreat, but that’s not the case on this occasion. According to Rodgers’ personal testimony, the 4x league MVP wrapped up his marriage to a woman named Brittany.
The implications were already on the wall because he was seen wearing a substitute ring on his finger during the Kentucky Derby. However, there’s no physical evidence about Rodgers’ marriage because his wife has stayed away from the media’s limelight. His parents, on the other hand, alleged that their son is bluffing, and he’s still single.
Tomlin and Khan don’t really care that much about Rodgers’ personal life. They only care about wins and a first playoff victory since 2016. Rodgers could prove to be the quarterback to make it happen.
