Watch: Vita Vea shotguns can of Gatorade at practice

Vita Vea made sure to stay hydrated in the Tampa, Florida, heat on Thursday during the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ training-camp practice.

The team mic’d up Vea during the practice, and the results were hilarious.

During a presumed water break, the 347-pounder walked over to a team employee and asked to shotgun a can of Gatorade. To shotgun a beverage from a can, one has to punch a hole in the bottom of the can, open the tab and quickly chug the liquid from the hole. This is most commonly done with a can of beer.

After removing his helmet, Vea asked the employee if the employee had a key on him. Once a hole had been poked in the can (that part was not shown in the video), Vea opened the tab and proceeded to down the Gatorade in about three seconds before crushing the can in his hand and throwing it to the ground.

“I don’t drink beer,” Vea quipped afterward.

While Vea shotgunning his Gatorade as quickly as he did was an impressive feat, his play on the field has been equally as notable. He has been a mainstay on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ defensive line for the last four years, recording 11.5 sacks, 106 combined tackles and 31 quarterback hits in 50 games. In 2021, Vea made his first Pro Bowl with a career-high four sacks in 16 games.
