Watch: Chiefs safety Juan Thornhill burns Derek Carr with 46-yard pick-six
Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports

If the Oakland Raiders wanted to keep their hopes alive of winning the AFC West, they needed quarterback Derek Carr to throw touchdowns against the Kansas City Chiefs

Unfortunately, Carr threw one to the other team after Chiefs safety Juan Thornhill burned him for a pick-six.

After watching Kansas City take a 14-0 lead late in the second quarter, Carr tried to make a big play for Oakland’s offense. Instead, he stared down his receiver and Thornhill read the play perfectly to jump the route and take it the house.

It was Carr’s second interception of the first half and things aren’t going to get easier for the Raiders. Facing a three-score deficit, Oakland will need to put the ball in Carr’s hands even more and that has already had disastrous consequences.
