Watch: Devlin Hodges ignores Mike Tomlin before game-ending INT
Philip G. Pavely-USA TODAY Sports

Steelers rookie quarterback Devlin Hodges threw four interceptions in Pittsburgh’s 17-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night.

The final interception came on a desperation pass into the end zone late in the fourth quarter. Hodges rushed to the line after being sacked and threw up a duck of a pass.

As the Steelers were going to the line, a video showed head coach Mike Tomlin telling Hodges to spike the ball and save time.

It’s clear that Hodges decided to either ignore Tomlin or did not understand what the head coach was saying.

Spiking the ball there would have set up third-and-18. Even then, it would have given Pittsburgh time to call a different play. It also wouldn’t have forced Hodges to rush to the line and throw a horrible pass.

As it is, Pittsburgh moved to 8-6 on the season after the loss. It is tied with the Tennessee Titans for the final AFC wild-card spot but holds the tiebreaker heading into Week 16.
